Another King, Just For The Day

Martin Luther King assembly today. With five intercom reminders that it was not a pep assembly, as most of the kids here are more excited about a basket ball game instead of these great past movements. Why can't we get "peppy" about this instead? As our speaker asked for every one to unite in changing our town, I witnessed about 500 coversations. Uncaring. Unmoved. They don't want to be activists. They don't want to look at the big picture. They want to go to the game. They want a pep assembly. They just want to cheer for us, and against them. Who's better? Who's right? It doesn't matter.Kids talking about how they don't like King because he didn't do anything. Where have you been? Maybe it didn't benefit you, but its most certainly something. A whole change in history is nothing? Sounds like a good dose of being overly apathetic. The bigest rise in cheers we got during the assembly was for our monday off.

These children our future?
Please let there be more hope in humanity somewhere.
